Simplicity is key, and that’s what made SoJ and FG both fun to trade and collect. And that’s why I think of the SoJ days as being the original in-game forum gold. This is exactly why I think runes are dog s*** as a currency. The head of the snake would be partially severed, and they will slowly die off. Sure, the ones heavily invested in FG will stick around, but without the influx of new users seeking a better way to trade who might be more tempted to purchase FG to trade for items, they’ll only be able to shuffle the FG between themselves. If Blizzard were to create an in-game trading platform that facilitates trading like JSP does (or even better), then a massive dent will be made to that influx of new users flocking to JSP.

There are three reasons why people use JSP… It’s a centralized trading platform (and a good one at that), it gives you the ability to purchase items with money using an intermediate “currency” or via the sale of game items for the currency, and the ability to have buying power at the start of the ladder with FG earned from past ladders/non-ladder. (when it comes to bartering skills, valuation of items, etc.) And amongst those new users, there’s a few winners, and a whole lot of losers. JSP, like any growing economy relies on new users flocking to it.
